ICDS Chief Executive Dmitri Teperik spoke at the panel discussion entitled “Politics, Security Influences, and Human Dignity” organised by the Analytical Centre of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Kyiv, Ukraine on 16 December 2019.
The focus of discussion was set on the “red lines” in decision making mechanisms and actions of the disproportionately concentrated powers of the current political actors. The international event gathered Ukrainian opinion leaders from political and governmental, academic, spiritual, educational, business, culture and media communities in order to discuss the challenges of different levels: in politics and security, technology and information sphere etc. judging it from the core value of human dignity.
In his speech, Teperik reminded the audience about intentions and abilities of foreign malicious actors to interfere: “As a golden rule, any gap within a society as well as miscommunication and distrust between some groups can be easily exploited by hostile forces. We should take a greater care of including younger generation in a wider dialogue on resilience because some security issues might require a compromise with certain freedoms. Young people should have a bigger say about the character of such balance, a better understanding of what is happening in society and where security developments might take us in the future, also regarding our democratic values and dignity”.
