Izabela Surwillo

Dr Izabela Surwillo is a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies. Her current research analyses the development of new energy infrastructure projects in the Baltic Sea Region. She also studies low-carbon energy transitions and broader political developments in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland and Ukraine. She holds a PhD in international relations from the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary), a master’s degree in international relations from the University of St Andrews (UK), and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Leicester (UK). Previously, during her doctoral studies, she held visiting research positions at several academic institutions, including University College London, Philipps University of Marburg, and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Ukraine).
