On 5 June, the Finnish Institute for International Affairs (FIIA) and the European Commission Representation in Finland organized a joint seminar on the forthcoming Joint Communication on Resilience, and featured ICDS non-Resident Research Fellow and FIIA Senior Research Fellow Dr. Kristi Raik as a panelist.
Chaired by FIIA EU Programme Director Juha Jokela, the event also included Dr. Nathalie Tocci, Director of the Italian Institute of International Affairs (Istituto Affari Internazionali, IAI)— who additionally serves as Special Adviser to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy /European Commission Vice President Federica Mogherini, and Sari Rautio, Director of the CFSP Unit at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. It was attended by ICDS non-resident research fellow Maxime Lebrun. The seminar’s panelists addressed the assumptions underlying the EU’s external action resilience agenda while reviewing ways in which it could be implemented. On June 7th, The European Commission and the EEAS published a Joint Communication on Resilience, aimed at identifying ways in which the concept of resilience may be further operationalized.
