Presentation on Conference Dealing with the 100 Years of Menace of Soviet-Style Secret Services

Parliament of the Czech Republic and Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes organized a conference dedicated to the centennial of creation Soviet security service Checka on 2-3 November in Prague.

ICDS research fellow Ivo Juurvee gave presentation in the opening panel on Soviet preparations for coup d’état attempt on Tallinn in 1924 and the lessons to be learned for current ‘hybrid warfare’.

The included a leading figures of the field like Prof. Mark Kramer from Harvard and Nikita Petrov from NGO Memorial in Russia. Presentations covered a rather wide timeframe as well as geographical locations. It was also reflected in wide area of participating countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine and US.
