Democratic and secure Crimea is important both for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for the stability in Central and Eastern Europe.
Especially, considering Moscow’s increased attempts to increase its influence in Crimea and to strengthen its economic and military position in the Black Sea region. Since the Orange Revolution, the European Union has become a much more visible and significant external actor in Ukraine. Merle Maigre, a researcher at ICDS, presented a paper at a conference in Sevastopol about a number of steps that EU’s Eastern Partnership can take in Crimea.
