NATO Membership Action Plan: A Chance for Ukraine and Georgia

NATO members will have to decide at the Bucharest summit at the beginningof April whether to respond positively to requests made by Ukraine andGeorgia to receive a Membership Action Plan (MAP) or not.

NATO members will have to decide at the Bucharest summit at the beginningof April whether to respond positively to requests made by Ukraine andGeorgia to receive a Membership Action Plan (MAP) or not.

It is in Estonia’s and every other NATO member state’s interest to extendMAPs to Ukraine and Georgia as soon as possible, preferably in Bucharest. ForEstonia and other countries of the so-called Vilnius group, the MAP processoffered a valuable framework for pre-accession cooperation with NATO.
