ICDS supports the Community of Interest Course on Cyber Security at the George C. Marshall European Centre

George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies

Piret Pernik, a Research Fellow, acted as an adjunct faculty member and seminar leader at the Marshall Centre Community of Interest Course on 28-30 August.

The course focused on understanding the Deep and Dark Net and countering violent extremism in cyberspace. The aim of the course was to increase partnership and awareness between serving government officials, private industry and civil-society leaders on current cyber security challenges. The course discussed practical and pragmatic ways to improve regional and international cooperation to effectively counter cyber threats, including those related to the Deep and Dark Net and violent extremism in cyberspace. In the past, in February and in December 2017, Piret co-lead seminars and delivered presentations at the Marshall Centre resident course, the Program for Cyber Security Studies. In addition, while in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Piret also participated at the workshop “Understanding Russian Strategic Behaviour” that was held on 3-4 September.
