ICDS Welcomes New Colleagues: Nele Loorents and Marek Kohv

The International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS) is delighted to announce two new colleagues, Nele Loorents as a Defence Policy & Strategy Programme Research Fellow and Marek Kohv as the new Head of Security & Resilience Programme.

Loorents has great expertise on the NATO and US security and defence policy, transatlantic relations, deterrence and defence posture in the Baltic region. Kohv brings us knowledge in the field of hybrid warfare, intelligence and espionage, anticipatory intelligence, situational awareness, information operations, and influence activities.

Nele Loorents joined the ICDS as a research fellow in December 2023. Prior to joining the ICDS, Nele Loorents had a long-term career as a civil servant at the Estonian Ministry of Defence. Since 2000, she pertained to the fields of defence investments, as well as defence policy and planning.

Marek Kohv joined the ICDS in 2024 as a 20-year security and national defence veteran. His last position in the public sector was the Head of Analysis at the Government Office’s National Security and Defence Coordination Bureau.
