On May 17, ICDS Head of Studies Tomas Jermalavičius participated in the Riga Dialogue 2016, an annual event organised by the Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA) in cooperation with the European Leadership Network (ELN), Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and other partners.
It gathered experts and policy-makers from the EU member states, the United States, Russia and other countries to discuss pressing strategic issues. The central themes of this year’s event were: the prospective developments of NATO amidst the current challenges and crises on its Eastern and Souther Flanks; Europe’s response to global security threats; the future of the West-Russia relationship; and the responses to the challenges posed by the escalation of propaganda. Part of the event was hosted by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevičs and State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Defence Jānis Garisons were keynote speakers.
