On April 25th NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum hosted a conference titled “Russian Speaking Minorities in the Three Baltic States”. The event was aimed at promoting information exchange between the HQs personnel and experts from Baltic states on the security challenges in the Baltic region.
During the conference ICDS Research Fellow Henrik Praks spoke about Russia’s aims in the Baltic region and about the ways it is employing to achieve them. He stressed the need for the Alliance to be ready for long-term confrontation with Russia which will involve both military and non-military dimensions. He also introduced the key findings from the recent ICDS Report on Strengthening the Strategic Balance in the Baltic Sea Area. The conference was attended by the top leadership of the JFC Brunssum, including by its commander, General Salvatore Farina (Italian Army).
