On 22 February, ICDS was pleased to host a presentation and discussion of Estonia’s medium-term defence development plan.
Estonia’s Ministry of Defence has recently finalised the latest iteration of its four-year plan, covering the period 2019-22. Meelis Oidsalu, Undersecretary for Defence Planning, and Colonel Vahur Karus, Deputy Head of the Defence Planning Department presented the thinking behind and main objectives of the plan.
This was followed by a discussion touching upon issues such as defence cooperation, the air and maritime dimensions of Estonian defence, the defence budget, and public perceptions of Estonia’s defence plans.
