Marko Tamming

Marko Tamming joined the International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS) as a research fellow in August 2026, having worked in various positions at the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service for more than 20 years. Mr Tamming’s research centres on Russian foreign policy. He holds a Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Tartu, where his studies focused on the history of the foreign ministries of Russia and the Soviet Union, as well as on Soviet intelligence services. Together with Reigo Rosenthal, he co-authored two books on the activities of Soviet intelligence services in Estonia up to 1940: War After Peace (2010) and War Before the War (2013). He has also served as a scholarly editor for several monographs.
