On September 18th ICDS hosted a seminar which looked back at the Russian aggression against Georgia 10 years ago.
Speakers were Minister of Defence of Estonia Jüri Luik, Executive Director of McCain Institute Ambassador Kurt Volker and Deputy CHOD of Georgia Colonel Nikoloz Janjgava. Panelists were identifying the lessons learned from the August war for Georgia, Estonia, NATO and the Russian Federation. Since both Minister Luik and Ambassador Volker were Permanent Representatives of Estonia and the US respectively to NATO in August 2008, part of the discussion focused on the decision-making (or the lack of it) at the NATO HQ in August-September 2008. Seminar, which was ran under Chatham House rule, was moderated by the director of ICDS Sven Sakkov.
