ICDS non-resident research fellow Helga Kalm commented in Vikerraadio on Turkey`s latest progress and development with Klen Jäärats and Aarne Rannamäe.
She said that Turkey is in a complicated position as its foreign policy has to be reassessed. Pragmatic Turkey, who has mostly concentrated on economic and commercial relations, is more and more worried about the situation in Syria. There are often missiles flying over Turkey and the so- called Islamic State has organized several attacks in Turkey. In addition to this the relations with the Kurds have become worse. In the light of these actions one should try to understand Turkey`s resistance to the amendment of the terror law. Kalm is worried about the internal development in Turkey and said that the rejection of Davutoglu is a blow to Turkish democracy and shows that the power is focused to Erdogan.
