ICDS and Institute of International Relations Prague discussed future collaboration
On 25 January, ICDS was delighted to welcome Ondřej Ditrych, Director of the Institute of International Relations Prague in Tallinn to discuss possibilities to strengthen cooperation between the research institutions.
Indrek Kannik, Director of the ICDS noted that ICDS is looking forward to working closer together in joint research projects, engaging IIR Prague expertise in ICDS events and providing Nordic-Baltic insights at the events organised by IIR.
More precisely, plans for the Lennart Meri Conference on 13-15 May 2022 were discussed. The LMC, conceived in 2007, assembles distinguished policymakers, analysts, politicians, military personnel and academia from around the globe in Tallinn. At the conference, key foreign and security policy issues are discussed mostly from the perspective of the northern and eastern parts of Europe.
Current European security situation and efforts to maintain transatlantic unity vis à vis Russia was the central theme of exchange of views with ICDS research fellows. “The Czech Republic and Estonia have a strong shared interest in clear messages and measures by the West that can deter Russia and reduce the risk of further escalation of the war in Ukraine,” said Kristi Raik, Director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute at the ICDS.
