Discussion with Bonnie Glaser on China-Russia Alignment and Cooperation

The Estonian Foreign Policy Institute (EFPI) at the ICDS had the pleasure of inviting Bonnie Glaser to a closed-door China Speakers Series roundtable discussion titled “China-Russia alignment and cooperation” encompassing topics ranging from China’s relations with Russia, China’s view on war in Ukraine and possible developments in China and in the wider the Indo-Pacific region, especially with regards to Taiwan. The discussion was moderated by Frank Jüris, research fellow of EFPI at the ICDS.

Bonnie S. Glaser is the director of the Asia Program at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. She was previously senior adviser for Asia and the director of the China Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Glaser is concomitantly a nonresident fellow with the Lowy Institute in Sydney, Australia, and a senior associate with the Pacific Forum. For more than three decades, Glaser has worked at the intersection of Asia-Pacific geopolitics and U.S. policy. She is the host of the German Marshall Fund’s “China Global” podcast.

Glaser also participated in a panel discussion at this year’s Lennart Meri conference about China’s aspirations and desire to dominate the world. These goals and desires have not diminished at all since Russia’s new military offensive against Ukraine. The discussion can be reviewed on the conference’s website.
