A Keynote Speech by Sorin Ducaru, Assistant Secretary General, NATO

On 7 June Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, Assistant Secretary General, Emerging Security Challenges, NATO, gave a keynote speech at ICDS. Ambassador Ducaru outlined NATO’s response to emerging threats in the context of upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw, focusing on energy security, non-prolifiration, CBRN, counter-terrorism and cyber defence.

He stressed that in the area of cyber defence NATO has embraced a new way of doing business by streamlining cyber defence organisation across the Alliance, merging cyber intelligence provided by nations with technical level information from NATO networks, and fostering partnerships with industry, the EU, Council of Europe and OSCE. The event was moderated by Ambassador Jüri Luik, Director, ICDS.
