The Director of ICDS, Mr Jüri Luik, meets with Members of Congress

On 8 August ICDS director, Mr Jüri Luik, met with the Congressional Delegation representing the House Armed Services Committee. As Mr Jüri Luik is the former Estonian Ambassador to Russia, the conversation focused on recent developments in bilateral relations between Estonia and Russia, Russian society and politics. The delegation was interested in learning about the motivations and fears of Russian leadership.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee, Mr Rob Wittman, who asked Mr Jüri Luik about what more the US could do to better deter any potential adversary in Estonia. The delegation consisted of Republican Congressmen Rob Wittman, Bill Flores, Robert Pittenger and Kenny Marchant as well as Democrat Madeleine Bordallo.
The delegation also met with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Riigikogu Parliamentary Defence Committee, Estonian Defence Forces, and a cyber roundtable.
