On 10th February, the International Centre for Defence Studies organized a seminar “Armoured capabilities – more than just tanks”, with Colonel Michael Claesson.
Colonel Michael Claesson is currently the Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces Land Warfare Centre. He has served in tank units on different positions: from being a conscript in 1984 he became a lieutenant in 1989 and advanced to the position of platoon, company, battalion and deputy brigade commander. He has studied at the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr (1997-1999), served as a teacher at the Swedish National Defence College (1999-2000), contributed to and edited a book named Maneuver mindset. He has also served on different staff positions at the KFOR HQ, Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters Strategy Section and the Swedish Ministry of Defence. Before taking his position in the Land Warfare Centre, Colonel Claesson served as the Deputy Military Representative at the Swedish Delegation to NATO in Brussels.
