The International Centre for Defence and Security invited John Ellis Bush, the former governor of the US state of Florida (1999-2007) to Tallinn for a 12-13 June 2015 visit. Bush, along with senior officials and MPs from the three Baltic states, took part in a roundtable discussion devoted to transatlantic security. The discussion focused on the topic of regional security and transatlantic ties and the increasing importance of strengthening NATO’s presence in Baltic and Nordic countries.
Bush had private meetings with Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas and Minister of Foreign Affairs Keit Pentus-Rosimannus. Bush also visited the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and the e-Estonia Showroom, praising the success the alliance has achieved in the fight against cyber threats and the high level of Estonian IT development.
