Erik Männik joined ICDS

The tasks of senior research fellow Erik Männik in the International Centre for Defence Studies comprise the analyses of Estonia’s ongoing and potential international military operations as well as assessments of their development trends and factors influencing them.

Erik Männik has worked previously in the Estonian Ministry of Defence, in 2005 he received doctorate in the field of international relations from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK, and worked from 2005-2010 as a Head of Chair of Strategy in the Estonian National Defence College. Since 2007 Erik Männik has been an adjunct professor of the Baltic Defence College.

Erik Männik’s publications have discussed conteporary security problems and military conflicts, terrorism, European Security and Defence Policy, small states’ security and defence. He has supervised master theses on modern conflicts and lessons learned from them, privatisation of military affairs, strategic surprise in warfare.

Erik Männik was born on 14 January 1967.
