On 7 February, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Maliar and Commander of the medical forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Tatyana Ostashenko visited ICDS to discuss the ways of countering Russian propaganda and disinformation operations.

While exchanging views on current security situation in Ukraine with ICDS Director Indrek Kannik, Minister Maliar underlined that Russia invaded Ukraine already in 2014 and ever since then Ukraine has strengthened its resilience and defence forces and dealt with attacks on daily basis.

Although the West has been supporting Ukraine in deterrence, negotiations and has imposed sanctions against Russia, it is also important to develop military capabilities to deter Moscow from attacking Ukraine.

As the ultimate goal of President Vladimir Putin is to change the European security architecture, the unity of the West in supporting Ukraine was also stressed in the discussion.
