The Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit) and the International Centre for Defence Studies (ICDS) organised a conference on Saturday 9 November at the Narva College of the University of Tartu, to discuss various topics including ‘Estonian Defence League: Values and Traditions’, ‘Trends in Global Security: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow’, and ‘Volunteering in National Defence in the Security Environment of the 21st Century’. Speakers at the conference included Major General Neeme Väli, Brigadier General Meelis Kiili, and Erik Männik, senior research fellow at the ICDS, from Estonia; Brigadier (ret.) Jānis Kažociņš from Latvia, Major General Finn Winkler from Denmark, Brigadier General Vakhtang Kapanadze from Georgia, and Brigadier General Kevin McNeely from the United States of America.
