Mykola Nazarov joined the ICDS as a non-resident research fellow in January 2025. He is an Assistant Professor at Sumy State University (Ukraine) and Director of the Research Centre for Regional Security. He specialises in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, civil-military cooperation, and political and social transformations in Ukraine. Currently, he also represents Ukraine in the Programme Committee “Public Safety for Society” of the EU’s Horizon Europe programme and has recently worked as a lead expert on national resilience in the Homeland Security Division at the GLOBSEC Kyiv Office. In 2021-23, he served as an expert in the framework of the Resilient Ukraine programme, led by the ICDS and supported by the Estonian Development Co-operation. He participates as an invited speaker in international conferences and seminars and frequently contributes to expert debates in Ukrainian and international media. He earned his PhD in political science from Kharkiv National University.
