Eirik Nestås Mathisen
Special Representive for the Western Balkans, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of NorwayEirik Nestås Mathisen has served as the Special Representative for the Western Balkans in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since August 2024. Supporting EU efforts and European integration in the Western Balkans is a key priority for Norway`s engagement in the region. Eirik has more than 20 years of experience from working on European integration, European foreign and security policy and Norway-EU relations. He spent seven of these years working in the Mission of Norway to the EU, mainly as minister counsellor for foreign and security policy from 2019-2024.
