Irena Joveva
Member of the European ParliamentIrena Joveva is a Slovenian politician and has served as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019, representing the Gibanje Svoboda (Freedom Movement), a liberal party affiliated with the Renew Europe group. She holds degrees in international relations and world studies from the University of Ljubljana. Prior to entering politics, she built a prominent career as a journalist, covering domestic and foreign affairs. Re-elected in 2024 with strong preferential support, she currently serves as Vice-President of the Renew Europe group and is a member of the Committees on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) and Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE). In the previous mandate, she was the First Vice-Chair of the Delegation EU-North Macedonia, while in the current mandate, she is a member of the Delegation for relations with Palestine, the Delegation for EU-Serbia, and the Delegation for EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina.
