A public debate by Baltic defence ministers at ICDS

April 24th, 2009, the International Centre for Defence Studies (ICDS) hosted a public debate about the impact of the economic crisis and budget cuts on the security and defence capabilities of the Baltic states. In addition, the results of the recent NATO summit and the future prospects of Baltic defence cooperation was analysed.

April 24th, 2009, the International Centre for Defence Studies (ICDS) hosted a public debate about the impact of the economic crisis and budget cuts on the security and defence capabilities of the Baltic states. In addition, the results of the recent NATO summit and the future prospects of Baltic defence cooperation was analysed.

April 24th, 2009, the International Centre for Defence Studies (ICDS) hosted a public debate about the impact of the economic crisis and budget cuts on the security and defence capabilities of the Baltic states. In addition, the results of the recent NATO summit and the future prospects of Baltic defence cooperation was analysed.
Rasa Jukneviciene, Lithuanian Minister of Defence, Jaak Aaviksoo, Estonian Minister of Defence, and Janis Garisons, Undersecretary for Defence Planning of the Latvian Ministry of Defence, participated in the debate, which was carried out in the framework of the Baltic defence ministers’ meeting in Tallinn on April 23-24.
The debate was conducted in English and moderated by Tomas Jermalavicius, a researcher at ICDS.
