Helena Eglit is a Junior Research Fellow at ICDS. Her research focuses on Russia’s foreign policy, hybrid warfare, and cybersecurity. She has previously served as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Washington’s Department of Scandinavian Studies (USA) and as a Research Assistant on the Minerva and Princeton University project analysing the effects of Russia’s disinformation on Estonian voting behaviour and Chinese FDI on Estonian policymaking. Her academic work has covered contemporary history and diplomacy, highlighting double standards and westsplaining in western discourse about eastern Europe. Passionate about tech, she has also worked as a Programme Manager at the European Innovation Academy and helped organise start-up events with Garage48.

She earned her MA from Stanford University (USA), specialising in Russian and European Studies under the guidance of Francis Fukuyama and Kathryn Stoner. Her research has received recognition from the Ministry of the Interior of Estonia (2019), Estonian National Archives (2023), and the Ministry of Education of Estonia (Kristjan Jaak Scholarship, 2023).
