ICDS Organised in Kharkiv Panel Discussion on Informational and Psychological Resistance

In the framework of the Estonian-Ukrainian development cooperation project “Resilient Ukraine / Civil society support for strengthening national resilience and security in Ukraine”, ICDS organised a panel discussion on informational and psychological resistance in the light of hybrid threats. Discussion took place on the 1st Ukrainian National Forum on Civil Journalism, which was held in Kharkiv on November 24-26, 2016.

ICDS Experts Presented Research-Based Profile of Defence Volunteers in Ukraine

On the international conference “Cooperation of state and citizens to ensure territorial defence of the country” held in Vilnius on November 23-24, ICDS Chief Executive Dmitri Teperik and Research Fellow Anna Bulakh presented results and main findings from the analytical study on the structure of motivational factors of military volunteers in Ukraine and the influence of hostile psychological and information operations. The study was conducted in various regions of Ukraine during the period of October 2015 – September 2016.

ICDS Organised International Autumn School Resilience League 2016

Held in Narva-Jõesuu on October 25-29, 2016, international Baltic-Ukrainian autumn school Resilience League 2016 was dedicated to the topic of informational and psychological resilience. The main aim of the event was to train young professionals and experts in practical skills and tools for promoting transatlantic security and defence agenda as well as strengthening national resilience against hybrid threats.

Presentation of the Book “Hybrid Warfare à La Russe” at the ICDS

On Friday, 30 September 2016, the book “Hybrid Warfare à la Russe” by Yuriy Fedorov was presented at the International Centre for Defence and Security. The book was published by the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies (CACDS, Kyiv, Ukraine) in 2016. This 160-page publication written by Dr. Yury Fedorov is dealing with three main issues: (1) Russia’s aggression against Ukraine; (2) Russia and extreme right, ultra nationalist and extremist organizations in Europe; (3) Russia’s propaganda in Europe.

Expert Briefing “Hopes and Worries in Eastern Ukraine”

On 23 September 2016 ICDS organized expert briefing “Hopes and worries in Eastern Ukraine”. Members of #ResilientUkraine team Anna Bulakh and Dmitri Teperik briefed the Estonian public on the current situation in eastern Ukraine after a week-long field trip to Ukraine’s east. In the framework of the project “Resilient Ukraine: Civil sector support to national security of Ukraine” funded by the Estonian development cooperation fund, ICDS experts visited Kyiv, Kharkiv and various cities in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area – Slovians’k, Kramators’k, Sievierodonets’k, Lysychans’k – to study current situation and recent developments in security sector.
