ICDS Research Fellow Speaking in Yerevan at “PostEurop”

On 21 April, Piret Pernik, ICDS Research Fellow, gave a speech in Yerevan, Armenia, at the Plenary Assembly of the European Postal Operators Association “PostEurop”. The audience consisted of CEOs and top managers from more than 52 Postal Operators in Europe. Pernik spoke about cyber security threats and their implications for Postal Operators, outlining recommendations aimed at fostering cyber resilience.

ICDS Research Fellow Participated in the Workshop “NATO’s Response to the Changed Security Paradigm”

On 31 March – 1 April 2016, ICDS Research Fellow Piret Pernik participated as a panelist in the workshop “NATO’s Response to the Changed Security Paradigm” held in Warsaw. The seminar was organised by the Chatham House, jointly with the Centre for War Studies at the University of Southern Denmark and the Polish Institute of International Affairs. The workshop analysed the evolving threats to the alliance, NATO’s capabilities and the future of NATO after the summit. Piret Pernik spoke about NATO’s future cyber defence capabilities.

The European Union Global Strategy: How Best to Adapt to New Challenges?

The writing of the new European Union Global Strategy comes at a difficult time. The world has become more and more volatile and there are crises on Europe’s eastern, southeastern and southern flanks. Although the conflicts in the south and the east are very different in nature, they both highlight the need for the EU to strengthen its foreign and security policy to better respond to a hybrid blend of challenges, which involve military and non-military, conventional and unconventional methods and tactics. The Global Strategy has the difficult task of setting the EU’s interests and objectives in respect of global security as well as the means to achieve them in the medium and long term.

ICDS Research Fellow Delivers a Lecture on Cyber Security Strategy in Georgia

On 19th of February ICDS Research Fellow Piret Pernik delivered a lecture entitled “Cyber Security Strategy and Policy Development: Challenges and Solutions” in the National Defence Academy of Georgia to the Georgian training audience. The lecture was held as part of the Estonian cyber defence training for Georgian public authorities and critical infrastructure owners and operators.

“E-Residency and Data Embassies: A Country without Borders” by Piret Pernik
