On February 9, the International Centre for Defence Studies organized a seminar and discussion on the future of Ukraine after the presidential elections

On February 7, the second round of presidential elections was held in Ukraine. The two competing figures were Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych.
How will change the Ukrainian political landscape? What effect will the victory of Yanukovych have on the further reforms Ukraine needs? What impact will it have on Ukraine’s foreign and security policy? What will become of the Crimea and Russia’s Black Sea Fleet?

These challenging questions were tackled by Edward Lucas, who is the Central and Eastern Europe correspondent for The Economist, Dmytro Kotliar, Adviser to Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Merle Maigre, analyst of the ICDS. The discussion panel was moderated by Kadri Liik, Director of the ICDS. The working language was English.
