On March 3, 2016 ICDS research fellow Anna Bulakh and non-resident research fellow Silva Kiili discussed military volunteers in Ukraine and shared Estonia’s experience integrating volunteers into the national defence system. The interview was broadcasted live by Channel 5 – one of the major TV channels in Ukraine – in the programme “Information morning”. Bulakh and Kiili also gave an overview of the research conducted by the interdisciplinary group at the ICDS on the phenomena of paramilitary volunteer organization in Ukraine, which included the field trip in October 2015 and follow up research publication and presentations of the final results of the research in Ukraine in March 2016.
