ICDS Fellow Presented at the NSA Symposium

On 20-21 October NSA Center for Cryptologic History held its biennial Symposium on Cryptologic History

At the symposium scholars and practitioners over various parts of the United States and Canada, UK, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Hungary and Estonia gathered in Maryland for two days to discuss various aspects of signals intelligence during the last century. Symposium was followed by seminars at the National Cryptologic Museum at Fort Meade on 22 October. National Security Agency celebrates its 65th anniversary this year.
Among the speakers were current and former high-ranking practitioners, like George C. Barnes (Deputy Director of NSA), David Sherman (NSA head of strategy, policy and Planning), General Michael V. Hayden (former Director of CIA 2006-2009 and Director of NSA 1999-2005) and Rick Ledgett (former Deputy Director of NSA).
ICDS research fellow Ivo Juurvee gave a presentation on the Estonian use of SIGINT and EW against Soviet troops during the Moscow coup d’état attempt in August 1991.
