Colonel (retired) Friedrich K Jeschonnek was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the West German Army in 1970. He served in various command positions in infantry and airborne units and commanded the Parachute Infantry Battalion 273 in Iserlohn, Germany (1988-90). He was the Commanding Officer of the Airborne and Air Transport School in Altenstadt (1997-98) and did several tours in international missions in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He retired in 2012 from the position of Chief of Staff and Deputy Division Commander of the 1st German Armoured Division. Colonel Jeschonnek holds an MA in economics.
