Maret Nukke

Associate Professor of Japanese Studies at Tallinn University

Dr. Maret Nukke is associate professor of Japanese Studies at Tallinn University (Estonia). She has been teaching various courses on Japanese culture and society since 1996 and was head of the Department of Asian Studies from 2014 to 2015. In 2010, Dr. Nukke started giving lectures on Japanese foreign politics in the joint module program titled “Asian societies, economies, and politics” by Tallinn University, University of Tartu, and Tallinn University of Technology while also working as the project coordinator of the program between 2014 and 2015. She studied at Estonian Institute of Humanities and Hokkaido University (Japan). In 2004, Dr. Nukke was awarded a fellowship grant by the Japan Foundation to conduct research at Waseda University (Japan). She holds a Ph.D. in history and cultural heritage from the University of Helsinki (Finland).
